Here is three highlights of our trip to the Maldives, we stayed at the local island Maafushi.
1. Adaran Prestige Vadoo
If you can't afford staying at a private island with luxurious water villas there is nothing stopping you from spending a day at one. There are a lot of different islands you can choose from, we choose Adaran Prestige Vadoo which usually costs aroubd 900-1000$ a night and we were very happy with our choice. Visiting a resort for the day usually costs between 100-250$.
Price: 100$ per person
Included:
Transfer to and from the Island
Lunch buffe & Afternoon Tea
Unlimited free drinks at the pool bar
Access to the pool
Snorkelling equipment
Extra tip: You can ask in the reception if they have free rooms and if there is they will show you the beautiful water villas.
2. Snorkelling trip
This is something I would highly recommend you to do and it was definitely a highlight during our trip to the Maldives. On Maafushi island you'll find many different tour operators that will offer you snorkelling trips to the nearby atolls. If you're a diver you wont have any problems finding dive shops either.
Price: Usually starts at 25$
Usually Includes:
Speed boat
Lunch buffet & soft drinks
Guides & Snorkelling equipment
Lifejackets
On our day trip we went snorkelling close to Bodufinolhu, swam with turtles and a lot of other fishes and ended the day at the beautiful Fulidhoo island in the Vaavu Atoll.
3. Explore the local islands
If you have a few extra days to spare you can go island hopping and you can get around with the local ferries, it's a cheap way to explore some of the best islands in the world. Enjoy paradise beaches and white beaches, bring a good book or snorkelling gear and you'll have a great time.
